Feedback to the Higher Education Sector on Disability Equality Schemes
IMPACT Associates and Skill for the ECU, October 2006.
A summary report of the strongest and least well-addressed elements of the thirty HEI Disability Equality Schemes (DES) that were reviewed as part of the Equality Challenge Unit project to support HEIs during the development of the first DES. The report provides guidance to the sector for the further development and implementation of DES.
This report was produced as a result of summary feedback from IMPACT Associates and Skill (National Bureau of Students with Disabilities) to individual HEIs on their draft Disability Equality Schemes. Consultants from IMPACT Associates were involved in the development of a detailed review tool which was used to assess the draft DES and to comment on their ability to meet the requirements of the Disability Equality Duty legislation. The project was commissioned by the Equality Challenge Unit.
