The perceptions of students with hidden disabilities of their experience during transition to higher education

This innovative research project, commissioned by Aimhigher East of England, used student led approaches to seek the views of students with Asperger's Syndrome, dyslexia and mental health difficulties about their transition experiences to HE. The research also consulted HEI and Connexions staff to gain their views on the transition experience.

The report is particularly useful to Aimhigher, WP, Disability and Connexions practitioners in light of the HEFCE guidance on targeting disadvantaged learners (2007/12 paragraph 27). Consideration of the findings and recommendations will aid planning and delivery of outreach and aspiration raising programmes, Connexions guidance and disability service provision to support inclusion in HE.
